STEP THREE – Planetary cycle Collective meanings
The generic terms for each planet we have adopted tackle the planetary concept at different levels or layers. When we come to assigning a meaning to the planetary cycles we have to stick to our generic meanings but combine the two separate planetary meanings into a phrase that coherently and comprehensively maps a major part of what is going on in society over a lengthy period of time – what is going on in history.
| Cycle | Duration | Collective Meaning |
| Neptune-Pluto | 493 years | transformation of collective idealism |
| Uranus-Neptune | 172 years | idealisation of intellectual & technological change |
| Uranus-Pluto | 139 years | transformation of intellectual & technological mindset |
| Saturn-Uranus | 45 years | relation between intellectual change and the established order |
| Saturn- Neptune | 37 years | implementation or restriction of collective ideals |
| Saturn-Pluto | 31-38 years | transformation of social, political and economic structures |
| Jupiter-Saturn | 20 years | socioeconomic actualisation of society’s expectations |
| Jupiter-Uranus | 14 years | technological change impacting society’s expectations |
| Jupiter-Neptune | 13 years | relationship of ideals to society’s expectations |
| Jupiter-Pluto | 12 years | violent upheaval in societal expectations |
We need to accept that language is not simply an aspect of culture or communication but central to humanity’s place in the universe. Words help construct concepts which are in effect our history. Without language there is nowhere we have come from and nowhere we are going to. Language in modern terms is not just an output of our history, in a sense it is the Output. Language is as important to humanity as Mathematics – the other fundamental parameter of our Universe. But whereas Language is by definition human, mathematics exists independently of the human mind.
Mathematics has been defined as the abstract study of topics such as quantity (numbers), structure, space, and change. Mathematicians are described as ‘seeking out patterns and formulating new conjectures’. Seeking out patterns is central to formulating any cycle theory. Numbers fill and map the entire universe we live in. Somewhere between mathematics (numbers) and language (letters) lies the explanation for why planetary cycles correlate with human development but we may never find out.
STEP FOUR – Planetary movement and orbs
We need to work out the duration of each planet to planet aspect. To make the Test consistent and convincing we have assigned a strict orb of 10 degrees before and 10 degrees after the aspects are exact. Anything taking place in our world outside these orbs does not count. This means that only 22.22% of the 360 degrees of the cycle’s points can count – in other words no correlations (matches) can be cited in roughly four fifths of the cycle. The duration of an outer planetary cycle stage can vary, depending on the cycle’s length, from 3 years to 16 years.
Using defined online sources (see below) all major relevant reported events or developments within those dates are then selected starting with the all important conjunction period. This analysis takes time. For instance to look at the next Jupiter/Pluto cycle stage in respect of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, N Ireland and Israel/Palestine with which it appears to correlate, it was necessary to look through 11 months of events – that is an average of 20 country-specific events per day times 330 days – some 6,500 events – and gauge whether they were significant and whether together they were demonstrating a key development appropriate to the cycle stage.
Note that when viewed from the Earth, sometimes planets appear to move backwards (retrograde) in the sky – this is because the Earth is overtaking them in its orbit round the Sun. In the example below in 1993 the planets Uranus and Neptune for the first time in 172 years come together (conjoin). They stay in a 10 degree before or 10 degree after orb for 11 years. During these 11 years the two planets turn retrograde for some five months – 22 times. This is essentially why there are 3 separate conjunction dates. With this particular cycle conjunction the two planets never move much beyond 11 degrees separation and accordingly the months when the conjunction is technically out of orb are included in the analysis. Sometimes the degree separation may be greater but if so, and it is cited with a date in the text, it will always have the number of degrees cited afterwards in red – e.g. (12 degs) so the user can see it has gone outside the strict verification orb the test insists on. This Retrograde component of planetary cycles avoids any temporal analysis being a crude time progression.
EXAMPLE ONE: Uranus-Neptune Conjunction 1993
| Exact Date | Uranus-Neptune Conjunction distance |
| 6 Jan 1988 | Uranus within 10 degrees of conjoining Neptune |
| 23 June 1988 | Uranus and Neptune separate 11 degrees OUT OF ORB |
| 9 Oct 1988 | Uranus once again within 10 degrees of conjoining Neptune |
| 31 March 1998 | Uranus and Neptune separate 11 degrees OUT OF ORB |
| 2 Feb 1993 | 1st Exact Conjunction date |
| 20 Aug 1993 | 2nd Exact Conjunction date |
| 24 Oct 1993 | 3rd Exact Conjunction date |
| 31 March 1998 | Uranus and Neptune separate 11 degrees OUT OF ORB |
| 22 Aug 1998 | Uranus once again within 10 degrees of conjoining Neptune |
| 6 Jan 1999 | Uranus and Neptune separate over 10 degrees permanently |
The URA/NEP 1993 link on the Home Page shows how this particular cycle demonstrates a staggeringly accurate match with the birth of the Internet. Not only did the Internet as we know it emerge exactly between 1988 and 1999 but it was precisely at the cycle Conjunction in the years 1993-94 that the number of internet networks and internet domains really mushroomed and that ‘the Internet’ became a subject for discussion and adoption by businesses, the media and a significant part of the wider populace. Additionally few can doubt that the full development of the Internet could fit into a cycle of 172 years.
EXAMPLE TWO: Saturn-Pluto Opposition 2001-3
Here is a second example – this time of a much shorter cycle – the current 38 year Saturn/Pluto cycle at its 2001-2 Opposition stage
| 13 Aug 2000 | Saturn within 10 degrees of opposing Pluto |
| 2 Oct 2000 | Saturn and Pluto separate 11 degrees OUT OF ORB |
| 24 May 2001 | Saturn once again within 10 degrees of opposing Pluto |
| 5 Aug 2001 | 1st Exact Opposition date |
| 2 Nov 2001 | 2nd Exact Opposition date |
| 16 May 2002 | 3rd Exact Opposition date |
| 2 Aug 2002 | Saturn and Pluto separate 11 degrees OUT OF ORB |
| 29 Nov 2002 | Saturn once again within 10 degrees of opposing Pluto |
| 26 May 2003 | Saturn separates finally from opposing Pluto |
This 1982 to 2020 cycle deals with Fundamentalist terrorism. Precisely at its maximising Opposition stage in September 2001 the World Trade Center’s twin towers are totally destroyed by airplanes hijacked by Islamic terrorists. The infamous date of 9 September 2001 (referred to as 9/11) lies exactly midway between the first and second exact Opposition dates – see above.
At the cycle’s conjunction we find the beginnings of Fundamentalist Terrorism in 7 violent developments (see SAT/PLU 1982 link on Home Page). At the cycle’s Out Square we see the number of al-Qaeda related terrorist acts climb rapidly while in a remarkable correlation the parking garage of the New York World Trade Center is bombed by terrorists who fail this time in their principal objective though they injure over 1,000 people.
